The father and son writing team of Bruce W. Burton and Jeffrey B. Burton join forces in Sleuth
Slayer.
America's leading mystery writers are being brutally murdered. Third-tier author Guy Davitt—a would-be
Dashiell Hammett—stumbles upon the killer’s bizarre M.O. (the deaths are lifted from mystery novels). But
Davitt cannot convince deeply skeptical police a "Sleuth Slayer" actually exists.
Through a dark labyrinth of film studio power brokers, publishing industry politics, a decadent family's
wealthy influence, police immorality—as well as the dawning realization that he himself is on the
killer's
list—Davitt pursues the truth.
Sleuth Slayer is also available as an ebook
on Amazon.com for the Kindle.

Text Of Review: Sleuth Slayer by Jeffrey B. Burton and Bruce W. Burton (Pocol Press, $17.95): A light-hearted mystery that pokes gentle fun at the world of mystery writing, Sleuth Slayer was written by a father-son team. Bruce W. Burton is a former dean of William Mitchell College of Law. Son Jeffrey's stories have appeared in mystery, horror and science fiction magazines and in a horror collection, Shadow Play.
In Sleuth Slayer, a "third tier" writer named Guy Davitt is visited by Jax, a pathetic writer wannabe. Jax believes mystery writers are being murdered, but nobody has caught on because the writers live far apart and their deaths are all different. Davitt doesn't pay much attention to this seemingly crackpot theory until Jax himself is killed and Davitt thinks he might be next. The Burtons keep a snappy pace, and their dialogue crackles.
